A business must be required to register for VAT if its annual revenue is exceeded than Dh 375,000 in UAE. VAT first implemented in UAE on 1st January 2018. Its rate is 5 per cent. How to get register for VAT in UAE?

For VAT registration in UAE, there are some documents required.

  • Request letter signed by applicant.
  • Resident permit of applicant
  • Photocopy of applicant’s passport

Types of VAT registration

  • Mandatory registration

If a business fall into the following categories, it needs to register for VAT:

For a year, the revenue exceeds the mandatory registration threshold, or

For next 30 days period the revenue exceeds the mandatory registration threshold or

The amount of threshold is AED 375,000.

  • Voluntary Registration

If a business fall into the following categories, it needs to register for VAT:

For a year, the revenue exceeds the voluntary registration threshold, or

For next 30 days period the revenue exceeds the voluntary registration threshold or

The amount of threshold is AED 187,500
